Well, the Garden party was a great success!!! L and his class decorated their wings (they used real butterfly examples to get ideas for the different designs). The wings were beautiful and a really great hit at the party--every one loved and raved about how wonderful they looked and how great the kids looked in them. All the fairies were so proud and wore their wings with such pride and accomplishment! I loved it. Each class at the school made something different to eat, using fresh garden ingredients. They made zucchini muffins and chive butter (fresh bread to go with it too!) and gazpacho, veggie pizza; tomato, basil and mozzarella salad; black bean tomato, green pepper and corn salsa; green bean salad, mint lemonade and iced tea. They had great fun showing their parents and loved ones around the garden.
The garden has a wonderful flower cutting garden, a digging box, several bird (or fairy--depending on who you ask) baths, an absolutely wonderful sunflower house and a fairy house inside--decorated with fairy furniture and colorful mushrooms adorn the area outside the fairy house. the sunflower house is a large circle of sunflower that, when the sunflower heads get heavy tend to lean in toward the center and create a lovely enclosed circle. There are tiny chairs in side that are designated the quite place. It is wonderful!
And of course, Yaya had to have a set of wings too--pink butterfly wings (yes--"I" made pink wings for my daughter)!
