Chrismas Eve

Christmas Eve. Bea and Poppa came down to celebrate with us. The kids spent much time watching the Norad track Santa site.

Cookies on the shelf for Santa with the mik and a very large carrot for the reindeer to share. All ready for bed in pajamas. Elves ready to head back to the North Pole. L was so excited for Santa this year...he could barely go to sleep and got up about 6:30 am saying that he was hungry. So cute.....

My version of elf on a shelf... and it worked

Well for those of you who don't know this about me, I am one of those people who sees and idea and always says "hey, I can do that! Why spend the money on the gimick?" Now, sometimes I attempt it and other times I don't bother. Some attempts are successes and others are complete failures. Well, the Elf on a Shelve thing---I decided to make my own, no need for the book and the ugly elf that some with it. So, I made my own. I think they are damn cute, if I say so myself.

The trick was to convince the kids. L saw them and said "Those are not real. They have wooden faces." So I had to convince him that they were real and that they only looked wooded when you looked at them--kind of like freeze dance when you have to freeze still when the music stops. I was not sure if it would work, but M and I would move them around the living room every night and after we left the house for the day. I think the moving them around all the time and that L was not allowed to touch them convinced him--sort of--he went along with it at least. They left for now--to return next year before X-mas.

I think this is the ONLY year it would have worked with L--he is too smart for it and probably won't believe it next year--next is Santa!!!

Dinosaur Digging

Bean's class at school has been all about dinosaurs these days and there is a spot a the end of Piggery Lane on the Ridges that his class goes to periodically to dig for dinosaur bones. He took us there one Sunday afternoon to do some digging. I brought along my excavation tools for him to use and explore with. They ususally dig with rock and dig up rocks, pretending that they are dinosaur bones and giving them names. For example, the rocks that are thrown at the ground are called Dinomites. Clever!

Some time in November.....

Pictures that were on my camera that have taken me forever to get off and do some thing with. These are of Marc flying his airplane along the Hocking River one Sunday morning in November.

Art

I have been working, or at least thinking about working on a large piece of art for Yaya's room. I have this grand idea, but then when I sit down to do it, I usually find some other thing that has to be done this instant. Like I have to find that fabric that goes under the tree, right now! Yeah right. I think it is my desire to be creative, but my fear that what ever I do will look like crap. I have aspirations of being an artist but really lack the talent to be one. I think that is why I stick with pillows. Pillows? Yes, pillows. I have been making pillows for our living room sofa. All sizes and colors. It is beginning to look like the crayon box threw-up (I will take a pic and post soon) But, I like making them and they make me happy to see some of my handy work everyday--it's artistic, right?

More kids pics soon...........
