Prepped most of the materials for the journal making, as having 15 children using awls (pointy thing
) and sewing needles was not going to be a good idea. Plus we did not have the time to do all the prep work and put the pages in the covers.Boards and text blocks for the journal making (20 total)
Various book cloth created from fabric that was backed with a Japanese Kouzo paper that is attached with a warm mixture of cornstarch and water. Mix the cornstarch with boiling water, which changes the properties of the cornstarch slightly and it becomes like a glue. This mixture is then spread all over the tissue paper and then placed on the back side of the fabric. Once dried it allows you to make book covers out of it without having the glue ooze through the fabric. Made some really amazing cloth for the journals.
